At Greater City Concrete Works (GCCW), we believe that being part of a community means more than just providing top-quality construction services. It’s about building lasting relationships and supporting the well-being of the people who live and work alongside us. In 2020, during one of the most challenging times in recent history, we had the opportunity to make a difference in our community by joining forces with Patrick Mechanical Ltd. and Patrick Sprack Ltd. to raise $50,000 for the Health Sciences North (HSN) Foundation.
This donation was our way of giving back to the healthcare professionals who were on the front lines, tirelessly working to keep our community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds we contributed were used to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment, ensuring that patients across Northeastern Ontario continued to receive the best possible care, even in the face of such unprecedented challenges.
We were inspired by the dedication and resilience of the Health Sciences North team, and we knew that supporting them was the right thing to do. As Douglas Patrick, President of Patrick Mechanical Ltd., expressed, “In appreciation of all the additional services and efforts provided by Health Sciences North during these unusual times, our workers and group of companies felt compelled to contribute to the continued healthcare efforts that so deeply impact our community.”
For us at GCCW, this initiative was about more than just a financial contribution. It was a reflection of our commitment to building a stronger, healthier community—one where businesses, healthcare providers, and residents come together to support one another in times of need.
Looking back, we are proud of the role we played in this collective effort. The impact of our donation continues to be felt today, as Health Sciences North remains equipped to provide exceptional care to patients throughout the region. This experience has reinforced our belief that when we come together with a shared purpose, we can achieve great things.
As we continue to grow and serve the Sudbury community, we carry with us the lessons of this time—lessons about the importance of unity, generosity, and the power of community support.
