Fresh Air Raise at Wesdome’s Eagle River Mine

At GCCW Limited, we’re used to working in complex environments. One recent example is our Fresh Air Raise project for Wesdome’s Eagle River Mine. This job involved foundation work to support ventilation and heating systems, key to improving underground conditions in the active mining operation.

Despite remote site challenges, our team delivered safe, efficient results with tight planning and reliable execution.

Scope of Work: Foundations That Perform

This was more than just excavation. Our crew completed granular placement, formwork, and concrete foundations under tough field conditions. We also installed anchor bolts and structural reinforcement to support key ventilation components.

What We Delivered:

  • Excavation and granular base prep
  • Concrete formwork and foundation pouring
  • Anchor bolt installation
  • Steel rebar for structural support

Every step had to be carefully timed around weather windows and transportation schedules.

Managing Logistics in Remote Areas

Getting materials and equipment to the site was no small task. The location’s remoteness meant we had to plan every move carefully. To stay productive, we used pre-assembled components and created a lean delivery schedule that minimized downtime.

By shipping complete elements to site and limiting the number of deliveries, we kept construction efficient, even when access was limited.

Lessons Learned: Planning Makes the Difference

This project reinforced a core principle: strong logistics drive strong outcomes. Pre-assembly and smart delivery planning helped us stay on track, despite tight timelines and unpredictable weather.

These lessons continue to guide our remote work across the mining and industrial sectors.

Fresh Air Raise for the Mining Sector

At GCCW Limited, we deliver more than concrete, we deliver solutions. Our work at Wesdome’s Eagle River Mine shows how our team rises to the challenge, even in remote environments where every hour counts.
